Presentation on Zoom. The Christian Nationalist Crusade continues to seek power. Their ultimate goal is Christian supremacy. Their mission is to “take America back for God”. Chris Highland provides an overview of who is leading this crusade and which organizations are challenging their agenda. He is a teacher and writer in Western North Carolina. He is a former Presbyterian minister who is now a humanist freethinker. He is the author of over 30 books.
Presentation by Jeff Seward at Friendly House. Jeff offers an overview of his experience in Uruguay over the last three months and then provide a post-mortem analysis of the 2024 election. Now that Trump has won, Jeff believes that Uruguay is a wonderful option. Jeff has a Ph.D from Stanford. He has had a career in public television as a political reporter, news anchor, and film producer. A retired professor in the Department of Politics and Government at Pacific University, he has presented to us many times in the past.
Presentation at Friendly House by David Delk. Democracy is under threat in several ways. Some of those ways are hidden. Others are in plain sight. Delk discusses three ways, and then takes a deeper dive into one of them -- the Military-Industrial Complex. He will discuss ways to combat militarism. David Delk is an activist and a Unitarian Universalist. His work has centered on campaign finance reform in Oregon, as well as anti-war work with the Peace & Action Group of the First Unitarian Church and the Alliance for Democracy, of which he is national co-chair.
