On January 12, 2014, Steve Jacobs started a discussion group – “Applying Humanism” – a forum devoted to discussing practical topics from a Humanist perspective. The meetings continued through September 2016, and were held on the second and fourth Sundays of each month following the main presentation at Friendly House. The topic for the first meeting was "What is it to deal with religion and religious people in a Humanistic way?" During the last two years, a wide variety of topics were discussed. The "Applying Humanism" discussion group is now defunct. But some of us are still interested in considering how Humanism can apply to addressing the problems of life
This on-line forum can be used for HGP members to express their views on a variety of topics from a Humanist presepective. For example, should the organization put energy into "outreach"? Outreach to whom? Do we want to promote Humanist values? Are we mainly a social organization of unbelievers? Do we have a sense of HGP institutional history? What have we done --- as humanists -- in the past that is worth noting? Please share your opinion on questions like these, or raise your own questions for people to consider.
