Portland Tribune Article:  A very informative and enjoyable article on our group was recently published, in the Aug 21st 2007 issue of the Portland Tribune, by freelance reporter Jonathan Fine.  Thanks Jonathan!
Day of Reason:  June 21st (the Summer solstice) is proclaimed to be A Day of Reason by Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski. Oregon State Representative Carolyn Tomei has provided us with an image of that proclamation. This day was first proclaimed in Portland in 2001 (and about the same time in Oregon by Governor Kitzhaber), in large part due to the efforts of Gerald Gage, an HGP member and founder. Elsewhere, there are more recent efforts to name an alternate date (first Thursday in May) as a National Day of Reason, primarily in response to that same day being named the National Day of Prayer.
Keep your eye on local newspapers in July for an expected article on Humanism, and perhaps our group in particular.
The recent 2007 AHA conference (held in Portland) was very successful!
