June 21st (the Summer solstice) is proclaimed to be A Day of Reason by Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski. Oregon State Representative Carolyn Tomei has provided us with an image of that proclamation. This day was first proclaimed in Portland in 2001 (and about the same time in Oregon by Governor Kitzhaber), in large part due to the efforts of Gerald Gage, an HGP member and founder. Elsewhere, there are more recent efforts to name an alternate date (first Thursday in May) as a National Day of Reason, primarily in response to that same day being named the National Day of Prayer.
